Job Summary & Objectives
DigitalMint is seeking a motivated and decisive Staff Attorney to support our growing cybersecurity and cryptocurrency business. This is an exciting opportunity for a junior attorney to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced and ever-evolving intersection of cybersecurity and cryptocurrency. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of relevant experience, keen analytical abilities, and flexibility to adapt and thrive in an environment that is constantly changing. This role reports directly to the CEO and works in close collaboration with our IT, Compliance, Risk Management, and Executive Leadership teams. Attention to detail and engaging interpersonal skills are essential, as this position oversees multiple and simultaneous cross-departmental projects and deadlines, while ensuring our legal efforts not only meet the needs of our front-line teams but do so without compromising our core commitments to both our compliance and risk management initiatives.
This role will provide ample opportunities to develop a strong foundation in financial services regulation, cybersecurity, IT governance, privacy law, commercial contracting, and corporate governance while supporting day-to-day legal tasks and providing counsel on important strategic decisions. The successful candidate will be eager to grow in this role as they gain the confidence and experience to deliver comprehensive legal advice, negotiate effectively, and navigate the complex regulatory landscape.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
Day-to-Day Legal Support:
- Make swift edits to contracts, prepare legal documentation, and offer timely guidance to internal stakeholders to enhance, not delay, business operations, while confidently managing legal, privacy, and security risks.
- Work closely with our business teams—such as marketing, operations, and IT—to ensure internal processes and external communications (like marketing materials) comply with relevant laws, including data protection and privacy regulations.
- Prepare and present concise, well-researched legal memoranda to aid Executive Leadership in strategic decision making.
- Build, foster and leverage a strong knowledge base to tackle a wide array of subjects across financial, technology, data protection, and privacy law domains.
Project Management & Coordination:
- Keep our cross-functional teams organized and on track with various legal, regulatory, and IT governance projects, ensuring key milestones and deadlines are met.
Track Regulatory Changes:
- Research and stay current on the legal and regulatory landscape affecting financial services, cryptocurrency, cybersecurity, IT governance, and data privacy.
- Keep the leadership team informed of upcoming regulatory developments that may impact business operations or compliance.
Commercial Contract Support:
- Assist Executive Leadership in structuring, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Manage and maintain our library of legal templates.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Identify potential risks in transactions and provide solutions-oriented advice.
- Assist in developing and maintaining policies that uphold privacy law, cybersecurity best practices, and IT governance standards.
Compliance Audits & Guidance:
- Research and help prepare internal legal guidance and client-facing documentation for regulatory, third-party, and internal compliance audits (including AML compliance, security framework certification, financial, data privacy, and other general regulatory audits).
- Effectively work with cross-functional teams to scope and perform periodic compliance hygiene assessments, risk mitigation, and remediation.
Enhance our Global Privacy Program:
- Strengthen existing privacy operations and documentation.
- Advise on employee training requirements for data privacy and data protection and establish appropriate training cadences to promote a culture of awareness, compliance, and accountability.
- Oversee, monitor and audit the privacy compliance program, including policy enforcement and third-party risk assessments.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align security and privacy practices across the company, ensuring a consistent and unified approach to data protection.
Regulatory & Licensing Initiatives:
- Support the execution of our regulatory and licensing strategy, navigating state, federal and global licensing requirements.
Prepare Board & Executive Presentations:
- Assist in preparing materials for board and executive meetings
- Collaborate on regulatory filings and develop other legal disclosures to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.
What We’re Looking For
Experience:
- 1–2 years of legal experience (internships, externships, or other relevant legal work welcome)
- Interest or exposure to financial services, payments, cryptocurrency, cybersecurity, IT governance, or privacy law a plus, but not required
Education & Bar Status:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Member of a state bar (or plan to sit for the bar exam soon)

- Excellent organizational and project management skills, able to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong communication skills—capable of translating complex legal and technical concepts into clear, business-friendly guidance
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and quickly take on new responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Comfort with technology and a curiosity for the rapidly changing crypto/fintech landscape
- Ability to balance business needs with legal, privacy, and security considerations
